This rocky outcrop on the Atlantic Ocean south of the Loire estuary was labeled Regional Nature Reserve in 2014. It covers the properties of 3 local authorities: the Loire-Atlantique Department, Pornic Agglo Pays de Retz and the town of Préfailles. The latter is the site manager. On 11.5 ha preserved, Pointe Saint-Gildas brings together 41 different natural habitats including heather moors, orchid lawns, grazed meadows, thickets, aerohaline lawns, cliffs, dunes ...
