The Maison des Pêcheurs du lac de Grand-Lieu : a unique point of view on the lake of Grand-Lieu and the customs of its residents.
A village witness to a fishing community
Located in the heart of the traditional fishing village, Passay, the Maison des Pêcheurs du lac de Grand Lieu is an essential stopover for discovering life by the lake. The visit takes place in 4 stages.

The museum space
Place of ethnological resources of the village, this space of interpretation recalls the history and the daily life of Passis of the years 1930 to 1970: the life at the edge of the lake, the activities and the traditional festivals, the relations of the fishermen with the residents of the lake, the birth of the cooperative society, hunting, weaving of rushes, agriculture.

The lake aquarium and the fishing techniques fair
Dive into the waters of Lake Grand Lieu and meet the aquatic fauna and flora of the lake thanks to its 15 aquariums (10,000 liters of water): eel, pike, carp... The technical fair presents traditional boats and fishing tools. fishing rods and those used today by active professional fishermen. Take a seat in one of the tanks at your disposal and listen carefully to the testimonies of the fishermen!

The panoramic tower
From its height of 12 meters and equipped with professional binocular optics, it offers a unique view of the largest natural plain lake in France and its protected reserve. It is located in a pleasant relaxing garden with an educational pool (amphibians, flora).
New for spring 2024 : on the interior walls, you can admire the wall drawing by artist Patricia Cartereau “The changing color of the lake”.

The temporary exhibition space
Grand Lieu, the lake, the village of Passay inspire artists and historians. The temporary exhibition space offers several additional themes each year, related to art, history or even the nature that we like to preserve
A little extra for families : a Baludik digital treasure hunt “Help Odile, the otter from Lake Grand Lieu”.
