Discover the local calvaries and their history on 5km and 10km guided walks.

As part of the Journées Européennes du Patrimoine en Pays de Retz (European Heritage Days in the Pays de Retz region), we're offering a tour of the calvaries and crosses located in the commune of La Plaine-sur-mer.

Research is currently being carried out by curious and enthusiastic amateurs, using local and departmental archives, parish registers, the Nantes diocesan archives and the Patrimoine des communes de Loire Atlantique, to find out more about the history of these crosses, often erected at crossroads, and to produce a collection. The result of this work is a booklet, available for the European Heritage Days weekend, in which you will find a tour and information on these buildings, should you wish to explore the commune on your own.
