Dr Dinet beach

A small family beach in Les Moutiers-en-Retz, bordered by coastal groynes, offering a wild and peaceful atmosphere.

It's an ideal beach for a stroll, as it's bordered by the famous customs path (sentier des douaniers / GR8). You can stroll along this path, admiring the view of the ocean and breathing in the sea air. 

At low tide, the sea retreats several kilometres, leaving behind the famous mud of the Baie de Bourgneuf. It's the perfect time for a family treasure hunt: colourful shells, bits of polished glass, ray eggs... The sand is fine and white: ideal for sandcastles!

Just a few metres from the beach, you can admire the fisheries, charming wooden huts perched on stilts. They add a picturesque touch to this coastal landscape.

 A little history: why Dr Dinet beach?
At the beginning of the century, Dr Dinet, a doctor from Nantes, came to Moutiers-en-Retz on holiday. He would prescribe that his patients smear themselves with the ‘blue mud’ of the sea at low tide.
