From the Pointe de Gourmalon, you can admire
the Bay of Bourgneuf,
enclosed by the island of Noirmoutier, 12 kilometres away as the crow flies.
Take the customs path on the right to reach the little beach of Anse aux Lapins.
This is a walk best taken in the late afternoon when the sun is shining on the town centre. You'll be able to watch the boats coming and going from the marina and fishing port, the majestic Château de Pornic, the quays of the lower town and the amphitheatre-shaped houses of the upper town.
Do you know why it's called Anse aux Lapins? It's a reminder of the many rabbits that used to frolic in the Gourmalon district when it was just a castle garenne and then a farm.
