Presentation

Known for its coastline, family-friendly beaches and golden cliffs, La Bernerie-en-Retz also reveals a more secluded side, nestled in the heart of its inland area.
To explore this unspoilt natural environment, the local council has created a heritage trail that can be enjoyed on foot or by bike, covering a loop of just over 5 kilometres.

This nature trail invites walkers to explore the typical landscapes of the Pays de Retz: hedgerows, wooded areas, sensitive natural areas and wetlands unfold along the route.
Featuring six information panels, the trail offers a better understanding of the local biodiversity, the history of the landscapes and the environmental richness of the area.

The trail starts at La Rogère, at the junction of Rue de Pornic and Rue des Nourettes, where an information panel introduces the route.

Visitors then pass through several of the town’s iconic sites:
  •   La Rogère pond
  •   the Versannes valley
  •   the Roches Dorées nature reserve
  •   the woods of the Château de la Gressière

Two of these areas are classified as Sensitive Natural Areas and managed by the Loire-Atlantique Department to preserve their flora, fauna and landscapes.

The trail ends with a walk through the La Rogère eco-neighbourhood , illustrating the integration of nature and sustainable development within the town.

This walk is the perfect way to discover a different side to La Bernerie-en-Retz, showcasing its natural heritage, coastal landscapes and biodiversity.
It’s a walk suitable for everyone, ideal for taking the time to observe, understand and fully appreciate the area’s natural treasures.

A map of the interpretive trail is available below, at the town hall and at the tourist office, to help you easily follow the route and locate the various information boards.
