La Sennetière beach is well known to local residents.  This is where they come to stroll, swim and admire the Baie de Bourgneuf.
La Sennetière beach in La Bernerie-en-Retz is just below the Port Royal esplanade. The famous customs path runs the length of the beach, and is easily reached by car via the Rue des Quatre Jumelles, a pretty one-way street where the beautiful seaside villas were built in the 19th century.
The car park is right next door, so it's easy for families to get there: just go down the steps or the tarmac ramp and your beach day can begin. 


This is a special place, well known to the locals. Away from the crowded and noisy beaches, families come to enjoy the small natural beach in a friendly atmosphere.
The special feature of La Sennetière beach is that it is framed by groynes.


What are groynes?
  • Groynes are wooden structures built along the coast to prevent coastal erosion.
  • They act as natural barriers, reducing the force of waves and limiting the impact of erosion on the beach.
  • Thanks to these groynes, La Sennetière beach benefits from extra protection, making it a safe and unspoilt place for visitors.
But be warned, small rocks are everywhere here, so wear slippers when swimming.
