🤕 The emergency department at Nantes University Hospital

For any life-threatening emergency, characterised by distress, calling 15 is a priority.

🔎 Regulated access to emergency services at night since January 2025 (Extension of regulated access at night to all emergency services in Loire-Atlantique in the context of ongoing epidemic tensions)
Access to hospital emergency services between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. will only be authorised on medical advice (except in life-threatening emergencies).
In practical terms, any patient who has not first seen a doctor, dentist or midwife must dial 15 before going to the emergency department (114 for the hearing impaired).

This approach is in line with the best practices that have been in place for several years, which consist of:
  • If you have symptoms, consult your GP first.
  • If your GP is unavailable, consult another healthcare professional (pharmacist, nearby health centre) or contact 116 117 (or SOS Médecins on 36 64 in the areas covered, namely Nantes and Saint-Nazaire) for guidance;
  • In case of emergency, and if no other solution is available, contact 15 (114 for the hearing impaired).
