The Brière Regional Nature Park is a prime destination for visitors seeking to unwind. It is the second largest marshland in France after the Camargue, offering an almost mystical landscape just an hour from Pornic.

There are several options available to explore these places, depending on your preferences:

• Visitors can choose to discover the life and activities of the marshes and explore the thatched cottage villages of Fédrun or Kerhinet.
• For wildlife enthusiasts and photographers, you can go bird watching.
• For explorers, you can head to one of the small ports in Brière and set off along the waterways on a ‘chaland’ boat, which allows you to navigate all over the marsh.

1. A timeless trip on a ‘chaland’ boat: Climb aboard a traditional flat-bottomed boat (known as a chaland) and let a boatman guide you through the heart of the marshes. Steered by a Briéron guide using a pole, this is the most authentic and peaceful way to explore this fragile ecosystem and observe the wildlife in complete discretion. 
2. The unique charm of the village of Kerhinet: This entirely pedestrianised hamlet is like a living postcard. With its eighteen beautifully restored thatched cottages, it is a testament to traditional Briéron architecture. A market selling local produce is held there every.
3. A paradise for nature and bird lovers: Home to thousands of migratory birds, the park is a world-renowned birdwatching spot. Between herons, marsh harriers and spoonbills, each season offers a different spectacle for photographers and hikers.
