Presentation

The Cap'tain Pop-Pop association, in partnership with Boutique Kif Kif, is organising the 20th Pays de Retz POP-POP World Championship in La Bernerie-en-Retz.
It's a race not to be missed!
Come and discover this not at all silly antique toy and have some fun at the big annual race: the POP-POP World Boat Racing Championship. It's fun and joyfully serious!
All our little boats are getting ready for the exhibition at the Maison Magrès from 13 to 21 April 2024! 

Have you heard of these little boats that propel themselves thanks to a mini boiler? No ?
The pop-pop is a fun little metal boat, a toy that was first produced in 1891 at a Lépine competition. Powered by a tiny water boiler fuelled by a candle, it appealed to young and old alike. It was very popular in Europe between the two world wars, before being almost forgotten ...

The Pop-Pop boat today 
Since September 2004, it has been the star of its new home port, La Bernerie-en-Retz. The pop-pop races will start at around 2pm and will take place as the candidates arrive. There will be three boats competing in each race. The organising captains will select the 10 best times of the afternoon.
