Pré-Vincent beach

The Pré-Vincent beach is THE beach in Moutiers-en-Retz.  

Multitude of small sandy beaches, separated from each other by wooden or rocky groynes, the Pré-Vincent beach is surprisingly atypical. Of the 6km of coastline at Moutiers-en-Retz, it's the only beach with lifeguards on duty from 1 July to 31 August, at high tide. 

Close to the town centre of Les Moutiers-en-Retz, the beach is bordered by a pedestrian promenade, accessible to pushchairs and people with reduced mobility.

Ideal for families, there's a play area for children and teenagers at the top of the beach.

Did you know? 
At low tide, the sea retreats several kilometres, leaving behind the famous ‘blue mud’ of the Baie de Bourgneuf. Previously taken from the sea, Les Moutiers marine clay is now extracted just a stone's throw from the ocean in the Lyarne marsh. Thousands of years ago, the ocean deposited a marine clay with proven virtues. This clay is used at the thalassotherapy centre in Pornic.

 Our advice 
to avoid a mud bath, although the children would love it... check the tide times before coming, as swimming is only possible at high tide
bring water shoes to make the most of the beach
don't forget to bring your children's buckets and spades 

Incredible but true 
Ocean temperatures are warmer on this part of the coast! In fine weather, the average temperature is 23°C. In very hot weather, it can rise to 28°C, or even 35°C in exceptional cases, such as during the recent heatwave.
