Stage 1 : departure from Anse du Sud, an idyllic Prefecture beach
Start your adventure at Plage de l'Anse du Sud, a beach of authentic charm where surfers and families mingle. Come and enjoy the
friendly, relaxed atmosphere
of this still wild place, perfect for getting into the mood before setting off to conquer the Atlantic.
📌
Good to know :
In 2024, out of 13 communes in Loire-Atlantique, 4 communes in our area were awarded the
Blue Flag label
for the quality of their beaches: La Bernerie-en-Retz, Pornic, Préfailles and Saint-Michel-Chef-Chef. In total, 12 beaches in Destination Pornic have been awarded the label, including the Plage de l'Anse du Sud!

Stage 2 : heading for the Roche Percée, a natural landmark in Préfailles
Let your
kayak
guide you to the
Grande Plage
de Préfailles. On the way, admire the famous ‘stone elephant’,
La Roche Percée
: a natural emblem sculpted by nature and a symbol of the coast.
Walk along the corniche and let yourself be charmed by the ‘
Dames de la côte
’, the villas of yesteryear that tell the story of the seaside resort dating from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
💡
Did you know ?
After La Roche Percée, another animal awaits you not far from here. Take a good look around you, perhaps you'll recognise the
Rocher du Lion
, another natural masterpiece of the Prefecture coastline...
I think I saw an elephant
Stage 3 : a magical sunset aboard your kayak at Pointe Saint-Gildas
Set course for Pointe Saint-Gildas, a rocky outcrop offering a breathtaking panorama... You paddle towards the horizon, as if bewitched by the infinity of the ocean.
Once you've arrived, put down your paddles and admire the breathtaking
sunset
: a magical moment that will remain engraved in your memory.
A little bit of history :
Used since prehistoric times, Pointe Saint-Gildas has always been a coveted site. In the days of pirates and privateers, this strategic point was the scene of maritime attacks. The remains of the cannon from Louis XV's ship ‘Juste’ bear witness to this!
During the Second World War, Pointe Saint-Gildas was part of the Atlantic Wall under German occupation. Blockhouses, rangefinders, casemates and tobogans are all reminders of this military past. To discover its history, as well as that of lighthouses, communications at sea and major shipwrecks such as that of the Lancastria, sunk in 1940 by the Germans, visit the
Sémaphore
museum.
