Located in Port-Saint-Père, Port-Hamoneau watches over the banks of the Acheneau
, the small river that links Lac de Grand-Lieu to the Loire. A great place for walking, fishing or just relaxing in the shade of a tree... The site offers a beautiful panoramic view over the marshes.
A little background information:
Did you know that the
Port Hamoneau
was once a commercial stop on the old "salt route", which carried goods between the ocean and Nantes? In days gone by, barges would dock here and there on the shore to load and unload lime, then set off again laden with barrels of wine or red sandstone extracted from neighbouring villages.
Here are 5 good reasons to discover the area:
- For the duration of your walk, switch off! No more networks, no more cars... here it's all on foot!
- And why not arrive by boat, canoe, paddle, pedalo or even electric boat... to help you, get in touch with
Escapade Nature
who will help you make your choice...
- With a fishing rod, you can set up a line and catch a few fish,
- Don't forget to bring a pair of comfortable shoes to play explorer and encourage curiosity along the way. Here, a pontoon: you can step out over the water... A little further on, a cottage on stilts: you can contemplate nature from above.
You can also extend your walk by taking the
Les Sables Rouges
hiking trail.
- The observatory at Port-Hamoneau overlooks the river and the marshes it floods: a coypu splits the surface of the water, lapwings take flight as it approaches, a harrier may emerge from the reeds. An otter, who knows? Don't forget a pair of binoculars!
Practicalities
:
- A small car park is available on site, with a few spaces available for free use.
- There are two small picnic tables where you can take a break.
-
The site is partly shaded
, which is very pleasant in summer.
- A small path along the river allows you to stretch your legs.
