Christophe Joguet, salt worker at the "Tenue de Mareil" saltworks in the Lyarne marshes at Moutiers-en-Retz, shares his passion for white gold with you through quality products and guided tours.

Located between sea and countryside, in the Lyarne marsh, this salt marsh was rehabilitated by enthusiasts in the 2000s. Since then, the salt works have been revived by the Patrimoine 2MB association.

Christophe Joguet, salt worker at the Tenue de Mareil saltworks, arrived at the end of 2023. He succeeds salt worker Mélanie Daspremont, who now operates the Ileau saltworks in Villeneuve-en-Retz.

Why visit the saltworks?

to discover the life-size workings of a salt marsh, observe the ancestral skills of the salt worker and taste this white gold.
to listen to Christian Bonnel of the P2MB association, a true enthusiast, who will tell you about the impressive history of salt in the Baie de Bourgneuf and the Gallic era.

When to visit the saltworks?

Individual guided tours: in July and August on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 6pm (no reservation required). Tours last 1h30.
Group tours: May to September, book by phone or directly with the tourist office's “groups” service.

Where can you buy salt from the “Tenue de Mareil” saltworks?

directly from the saltworks, in July and August, Monday to Saturday, 10:30am to 12pm and 5:30pm to 7pm, from the salt worker.
at the Moutiers-en-Retz tourist office and in the Villeneuve-en-Retz, La Bernerie-en-Retz, La Plaine-sur-Mer, Préfailles and Saint-Michel-Chef-Chef tourist offices.
at the Moutiers-en-Retz market on Thursdays and Saturdays in July and August, organized by the Patrimoine 2MB association.

The “Tenue de Mareil” saltworks is one of the Moutiers-en-Retz local producers presented by the Destination Pornic Tourist Office.
