“Destination d'excellence": the evolution of Qualité Tourisme for Tourist Offices.

The Pornic Intercommunal Tourist Office is a holder of the “Qualité Tourisme” mark, a benchmark in the tourism sector. This national distinction is now evolving to become “Destination d'excellence”. This transition marks an important step for tourist offices, with renewed national standards and reinforced requirements.

Presentation

Why get the “Destination d'excellence” label ?

  • To reinforce the commitment of Tourist Offices to quality and customer satisfaction,
  • promote more sustainable and responsible practices, in line with current environmental issues,
  • to improve the accessibility of tourist offers for all publics.
  • 'Destination of Excellence' logo

What changes have been made to the national standards for tourist offices ?

The new standards are based on several key points :
  • welcome and information : a personalized welcome tailored to the needs of each visitor, clear and comprehensive information on the local tourism offer,
  • promoting the region : highlighting the destination's assets and creating innovative, sustainable tourism experiences,
  • quality management : implementing evaluation and continuous improvement procedures, taking into account visitors' opinions,
  • sustainable development : reducing the environmental impact of tourism activities, promoting responsible tourism,
  • accessibility : adapting infrastructures and services to people with disabilities.

Key points to remember :

  • the “Qualité Tourisme” label will disappear completely on December 31, 2026, to be replaced by the Destination d'excellence label,
  • destination d'excellence requires the tourist office to meet 85% of the quality criteria and 60% of the eco-responsibility criteria (initial request),
  • eco-responsibility is at the heart of the new label's requirements,
  • tourist offices have a key role to play in the transition to more sustainable and responsible tourism.
