Accessibility

Dear tourism partners, why not open your doors even wider to all travellers ?
Committing to the ‘Tourisme & Handicap’ scheme is much more than just an act of solidarity. It is a winning strategy – economic, social and regional – that enhances the appeal of your establishment whilst showcasing your commitment.

Presentation

Expand your customer base

Nearly 12 million French people live with a disability. This figure rises even further when families and carers are taken into account.
Obtaining the label gives you access to a significant and loyal market, made up of travellers who are actively seeking accommodation suited to their needs.
Failing to be accessible means missing out on a significant share of tourist demand. Conversely, holding the label allows you to stand out, attract new customers and become a leading destination for truly inclusive tourism.

Enhance your image and demonstrate your commitment

Displaying the Tourisme & Handicap label sends a strong message to your customers and the local community.
It demonstrates your commitment to inclusion, equal opportunities and responsible tourism that is accessible to all.
This approach also helps to strengthen your employer brand by attracting professionals who share these values and are proud to work for a committed organisation.

Boost your visibility with Destination Pornic

As a certified establishment, you’ll benefit from specific promotion across Destination Pornic’s communication channels – its website, brochures and social media – in the sections dedicated to accessible tourism.
Certified offers are also listed with specialist organisations and platforms dedicated to tourism for people with disabilities, ensuring you targeted and qualified visibility.

Improve the experience for all your customers

The improvements made as part of the certification process benefit your entire customer base :

  • Families with pushchairs
  • Older people
  • People with temporary mobility impairments

Clear signage, easier access routes and staff trained in accessibility improve the overall experience for all your visitors. Accessibility thus becomes a real driver of quality.

How do you obtain the ‘Tourisme & Handicap’ label ?

The certification process is simple, clear and structured :

  1. Seek guidance, as our inter-municipal tourist office did, with the support of Loire-Atlantique Développement and its partners.
  2. Carry out a self-assessment of your establishment using evaluation grids tailored to different types of disability.
  3. If necessary, carry out the adaptation work recommended by the experts.
  4. Submit your application to the certifying body, Atout France.
  5. Host an accredited auditor for the assessment visit.
  6. Obtain the label, valid for five years.
