Two leading French soloists come together in a delicate dialogue between the guitar and the flute. Emmanuel Rossfelder and Philippe Bernold have known each other and played together for many years. Their musical rapport has developed over the course of numerous concerts, centred on a repertoire that combines original works and transcriptions. From Mauro Giuliani to Heitor Villa-Lobos, Astor Piazzolla and Georges Bizet, their programme showcases the diverse tonal colours of this unusual chamber music combination. A pupil of Alexandre Lagoya at the Paris Conservatoire from the age of fourteen, Emmanuel Rossfelder was awarded two First Prizes there, in guitar and chamber music. In 2004, he received a Victoire de la Musique Classique award in the ‘Instrumental Soloist Revelation of the Year’ category. Since then, he has pursued a career as a soloist in France and abroad, whilst also producing his own transcriptions for the guitar. Philippe Bernold, a flautist, conductor and teacher, served for twelve years as principal flautist with the Lyon National Opera Orchestra. A prize-winner at the Jean-Pierre Rampal International Competition, he pursues a career as a soloist and conductor and currently teaches at the Paris National Conservatoire of Music. The two musicians gave their first concerts together some twenty years ago and have been performing together regularly ever since. For certain works, Emmanuel Rossfelder arranges the pieces for flute and guitar himself. What the press are saying:
