Presentation

 Between science, ritual, and memory, mummies still speak to us. Lecture led by Alain Froment  
A symbol of ancient Egypt, mummies have fascinated and intrigued people for centuries. But beyond the pharaohs, the practice of mummification extends far beyond the borders of the Nile and spans ages and civilizations.

During this conference, Alain Froment, physician, anthropologist, and administrator of the Society of Friends of the Museum of Man, invites us on a fascinating journey through time and cultures. A renowned specialist, he will present the diversity of mummification practices observed around the world, the techniques used, and the scientific and heritage issues they raise.

This event will echo the major exhibition “Mummies” presented at the Musée de l'Homme from November 19, 2025, to May 25, 2026, offering scientific and human insight into these exceptional witnesses of the past.
