Alain Foulonneau presents the results of his research on the mutiny aboard the Foederis Arca.

The Foederis Arca (Ark of the Covenant) set sail from Sète on June 8, 1864, to resupply French troops campaigning in Mexico. It was carrying alcohol, spirits, coal, and one passenger: Orsini... It would never reach Mexico.  On August 22, 1864, the corvette “Monge” picked up the eight sailors, the novices, and the passenger in Cape Verde. They all said: “The ship took on water, the captain ordered the evacuation... Those who remained on board were the captain, the first mate, the cook, and a ship's boy.” By morning, the “Foederis Arca” had disappeared, the whaling boat had capsized... none had survived. The investigation was then conducted by Commissioner Rouxel...
