 Heritage Days: A tour of Ferdinand Jamin’s herbarium organised by the Pornic Botanical Conservatory   

   What’s on

As part of European Heritage Days and under the theme ‘Heritage at Risk’, the Pornic Botanical Conservatory is celebrating the local botanical heritage through a unique botanical exhibition.

Discover the historic collection of Ferdinand Jamin, a horticulturist who meticulously collected and preserved samples of the flora of Clion-sur-Mer between 1888 and 1916. This exceptional record of the plant life of the period is juxtaposed with a contemporary herbarium compiled by local residents as part of a citizen science programme.

Through these collections of dried plants, the exhibition illustrates how local biodiversity has evolved in the face of climate challenges and highlights the importance of preserving this genetic database, a vital part of our natural heritage.
