The Hermitage beach at Moutiers-en-Retz: a large beach carved out by wooden groynes, overlooked by the coastal path linking the entire Côte de Jade.
This sandy beach is ideal for an afternoon out with the family. Popular with local residents and holidaymakers from nearby campsites, it is appreciated for its tranquillity.

  • If you're planning to go for a swim or spend some relaxing time at Plage de l'Hermitage, here's some useful information: 
  • check the tide times before you go, as swimming is only possible at high tide
  • bring water shoes to enjoy the beach to the full
  • take advantage of the boat slipway to go kayaking.

Fancy a walk?
Take the embankment and walk along the coastal path (sentier des douaniers - GR8). Head north towards La Bernerie-en-Retz (2.5 km away), passing through Port Royal and the Sennetière district, famous for its oysters. If you head south, you'll walk towards Lancastria (2.2 kms) past pretty fishermen's cottages, with a breathtaking view of the fisheries on arrival.
