Come and discover the exhibitions at the Hospital Chapel in Pornic, as well as its concerts!
The Hospital Chapel, situated in the heart of Pornic’s old town, forms part of the town’s historical and cultural heritage and contributes greatly to its charm. It commands a superb view over the harbour and is the visible symbol of the Upper Town.
Built in 1781, it was rebuilt in April 1845, during a phase of urban redevelopment, on a site originally occupied by the Montplaisir manor house.

The local council at the time had just created a road linking the Upper Town to the harbour district (now Rue Foch). Until then, only stairways had provided access between the town’s two levels.
This new thoroughfare, built along the edge of the cliff, overlooks Pornic harbour and adjoins the former noble estate of Montplaisir, where the town’s hospital was once situated.
Its apse faces east and its main entrance to the west offers a stunning view of the harbour and Bourgneuf Bay.

Today, the Hospital Chapel has become a venue for information and ongoing events, promoting local heritage and helping visitors to explore the town and its surroundings through exhibitions and a variety of cultural and tourist activities.
