Bouchot mussels, an exceptional product
Mytilibarbe is committed to offering bouchot mussels of impeccable quality. To achieve this, the company implements practices that respect the environment. By choosing Mytilibarbe mussels, you are opting for an authentic and tasty product, while supporting a responsible approach.

Mytilijade mussels have the STG Moules de Bouchot (Traditional Speciality Guaranteed) label. This designation is recognised by the European Union and guarantees consumers a mussel bred according to a traditional culture, called Bouchot, and meeting a set of specifications.
La Plainaise, a brand created by the Bouchot mussel producers of La Plaine-sur-Mer, adds a local touch to this product.

Stages in the production of bouchot mussels
  1. Planting the stakes - from November to January, a lance is used to create a jet of pressurised water to drive in the bouchot mussels.
  2. Installation of the catchment ropes - from February to May, horizontal coconut fibre ropes are stretched out to sea in the catchment areas.
  3. Pile filling - from June to October, this technique ensures more regular production.
  4. Harvesting - from June to October, this is done using a harvester attached to a crane.
  5. Washing & packaging - this stage consists of pre-washing at sea, purification, sorting and packaging.
  6. Sale - Traditional or ready-to-cook mussels are then sent to the sales outlets.

Mussels should be eaten within 48 hours of purchase.
They can be kept in the vegetable crisper of the refrigerator.
Cooked and without their shell, you can keep them for one or two days in the fridge.
