 Les Roses de Retz and the Town of Pornic are organising ‘Pink October’: a month of action, prevention and solidarity  

  What’s on

Throughout October, Pornic is joining forces with the charity Les Roses de Retz and numerous local organisations to make Pink October a highlight of the year for raising awareness, sport, wellbeing and community spirit.

The programme centres on several major events:
  • At the Centre Rose (4 rue Jean Monnet): regular activities promoting wellbeing, recovery and physical activity (sophrology, yoga, Pilates, massages, adapted physical activities) as well as open workshops (writing, sea trips)
  • Sunday 4 October: the 100 km Rose: an all-female charity cycle ride organised by Les Échappées 44 (starting from Saint-Mars-de-Coutais), with a refreshment stop at the Centre Rose
  • Sunday 18 October: the ‘Pink October on the Ria’ event (Esplanade de la Ria):
    • From 8.30 am: 5 km ‘Pink Walk’ (starting at 9.15 am, on-the-spot registration from 8 am, €5 / free for children)
    • From 8.30 am: boat parade led by the Pornic Sailing Club (catamarans and rowing boats heading towards the Old Port)
    • At 11 am: talk by Professor Mario Campone (specialist oncologist and professor at the University of Angers) on screening and advances in research
    • From 2.00 pm: taster rides on Harley-Davidsons and classic cars (organised by the WICF), sporting and artistic demonstrations (Qi Gong, hip-hop, country, dance), concerts (Jazz Band), charity stalls, food trucks and a prevention workshop
  • Saturday 24 October: charity karaoke night at La Pause Laverie from 8.30 pm to 10.30 pm
  • Throughout the event: Pornic Castle and its footbridge will be lit up in pink every evening until midnight, and the town will be decked out in pink ribbons

  Practical information
  • Dates: 1–31 October
  • Main venues: Esplanade de la Ria, Centre Rose (4 Rue Jean Monnet), Vieux-Port and various locations throughout the town of Pornic
  • Prices: free entry to events; a small contribution (€5) for certain specific activities (walk, boat parade, motorbike/car test drives), with proceeds going to the charity Les Roses de Retz
