• An exceptional ria: the Haute-Perche is a river valley shaped by the forces of nature, forming a tectonic notch known as a ria, and shaped by man over the centuries. Today, several locks prevent the sea from flooding the bed of the Haute-Perche canal.
• A maritime heritage: this centuries-old canal has been an essential transport route for the region's economic development. This ancient waterway measures 12 km and rises in Arthon-en-Retz, in the commune of Chaumes-en-Retz. It is known as a “canal” because, in the 18th century, it was designed with a sufficiently large gauge to facilitate the passage of boats.
• Rich biodiversity: La Haute-Perche is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna, offering nature lovers a wealth of opportunities for discovery 
• A green setting: The banks of the Haute-Perche are bordered by meadows, woods and marshes, offering a peaceful setting in which to recharge your batteries.
• A history to discover: Follow in the footsteps of the boatmen and discover the history of this waterway, which has left its mark on the region. From the Middle Ages to the end of the 19th century, it carried goods such as cereals, local tiles and terracotta, wine and wood.
