Here, we love sharing the little things that make the season even more special: a shuttle bus taking you from a village to the seaside, a water sport to enjoy as a family, a guided tour to rediscover a familiar place from a new perspective, or a farmers’ market where you can have a natter whilst choosing the best local produce.

Free tours to discover our hidden treasures

Among the summer highlights in the Pornic region, the free tours are a real gem. Whether you’re curious about history, a nature lover or simply looking for a lovely day out with the family, there’s bound to be a tour waiting for you just round a bend in a path or in a village.

Delve into the historical roots of our region with a heritage tour of the Terres de Briord in Port-Saint-Père, an iconic site that encapsulates eight centuries of history, or let yourself be guided through Les Moutiers-en-Retz, amongst ancient alleyways and tales of a maritime and religious past that is still very much alive.

When it comes to nature, Destination Pornic invites you to lace up your trainers and explore its unspoilt landscapes. Set off to discover the Pointe Saint-Gildas Regional Nature Reserve, a veritable balcony overlooking the ocean and a refuge for numerous bird species, or the Collet dune, a little-known ecological gem nestled between the sea and the marshes. You can also enjoy the authentic experience of a guided shore-fishing excursion, to gain a better understanding of the vibrant yet fragile coastline that surrounds us.

These free tours are much more than just a great summer activity: they are moments of sharing, wonder and reconnection with what makes our region so rich. And it’s all right on your doorstep.

Local markets : flavours, encounters and a friendly atmosphere

Large markets : a riot of flavours and specialities

Among our wonderful summer discoveries, it’s impossible to miss the large, lively and colourful markets that punctuate the season. Whether it’s the market in Pornic, the one in La Bernerie-en-Retz under the market halls, or the one in Tharon-Saint-Michel-Chef-Chef, each offers an incredible variety of local produce, flavours and specialities that make up the rich diversity of our region.
Freshly caught seafood, seasonal vegetables, artisan cheeses, crisp biscuits and savoury and sweet specialities : these markets are a veritable festival of flavours to be enjoyed with family or friends. It’s also the perfect opportunity to chat directly with passionate producers who’ll share their expertise and recommend their best recipes. An immersive experience at the heart of local cuisine that’s not to be missed this summer!

Farm markets: intimacy, sharing and culinary delights

For a more intimate and friendly atmosphere, our favourites are the farm markets, often held in the late afternoon. These warm gatherings are genuine opportunities for locals and local producers to come together, often in idyllic and peaceful settings.

  • The Éco-Domaine de la Fontaine hosts a small market featuring local artisans, where you can stroll amongst unique creations and authentic flavours.
  • At the Ferme de la Fradoullière, large communal tables invite you to sample specialities such as crêpes or fouées on the spot, accompanied by Gwendoline’s famous, delicious ice creams – a must-try for food lovers in the region.
  • Finally, don’t miss the market at La Petite Maison dans la Prairie, nestled around the mill rebuilt by Thierry. Here, the atmosphere is relaxed, the setting charming, and the wood-fired fouées are a real treat to enjoy with pâté or homemade wild blackberry jam.

These farm markets offer unique moments of togetherness, where every summer in Destination Pornic can be savoured with all the senses.
