Viewpoint located on the heights of the village of St Cyr at 34 meters above sea level.
We can imagine from my table, the ancient Gulf of Machecoul and the shores of the ancient "Baye de Bretagne", today called the
Bay of Bourgneuf
.
Who am I ?
In the 1970s, and still at my current location, the Pornic artist Paul UFER created a first orientation table, allowing
a reading of the landscape and the panorama
that lies before me. Today, even though the vegetation has grown, we can still see
the Breton marsh
below,
the Bouin wind turbines
and even
the island of Noirmoutier
on a clear day.
Surrounded by the bocage and the vineyards of Saint-Cyr, I am located on
the edge of the hills and the vineyards
of the town of Villeneuve-en-Retz.
In the past, the vegetation around me did not exist, so we could admire the landscapes located towards Fresnay and as far as the Machecoul forest.
In 2015, the Friends of the Pays de Retz association financed a plaque retracing the different points visible on the original panorama.
To visit me, nothing could be easier
:
- all year round, free parking is located at my feet, you must follow the “point of view” signage from the town of Saint-Cyr.
To extend the discovery of the landscapes and get lost in this panorama:
3 hiking trails are possible most of the year from the orientation table:
-
the Le Bocage
circuit,
-
the circuit of the heights
of Saint-Cyr,
- and the
Les Champs
circuit heading back towards the village of Fresnay.
What are my hidden treasures?
- numerous small plots of woods, where you can come across different species of trees; pedunculate oaks, willows, elms, ash trees, blackthorn or awthorn shrubs...
- between these plots of wood, we still find areas cultivated with corn, cereals, fodder and even vine slopes of different grape varieties...
- animals more or less known from our countryside; black-headed warblers, gray wagtails, tawny owls, buzzards, nightingales, swallows, pheasants, hedgehogs, badgers, foxes, sometimes even deer and wild boars...
To bring back good memories and keep smiling, I don't forget to bring:
- Twins,
- rain gear, if it's gray,
- good hiking shoes to protect my feet... or boots, if it rains heavily!
- a small bag so as not to throw away my waste,
- enough to take pretty photos to put on the networks!
