Workshop: Getting back in the saddle

Would you like to get back into cycling with confidence or learn how to ride an electric-assist bike (e-bike)? Organised by Pornic Agglo Pays de Retz and run by the Le Poulp association, this series of group workshops will guide you step by step to regain your confidence and feel safe on two wheels.

• The aims of the series:
  • Safety and confidence: regaining your balance, overcoming the fear of falling and building up your physical abilities.
  • Getting to grips with e-bikes: learning to handle an electric-assisted bike (which is heavier and faster).
  • Traffic regulations and the road network: familiarising yourself with the rules for sharing the road and cycling facilities (30 km/h zones, two-way cycle lanes, ‘chaussidoux’ etc.) .
• How the sessions work: each course comprises an initial physical assessment session followed by seven 1½-hour workshops (fun indoor exercises followed by supervised rides on public roads). Sessions take place in small groups (6 to 8 people) to ensure a warm and personalised approach.

  Practical information

• Cost: free (commitment to complete the entire course; a participation agreement must be signed at the first session)
• Equipment: bikes and kit provided on site if required (adapted bikes available for the final rides)
• Target audience: open to all upon pre-registration (ideal for older people or those wishing to get back in the saddle)
