Welcome to Rouans on this magnificent green circuit.
 
While strolling on this hiking trail, you will notice the importance of water in this territory: the pretty rivers of La Blanche and Acheneau, the Tenu, the marshes and pre-marsh…. Be careful, in winter nature takes over and some hamlets like Messan turn into islands. La Blanche, this small stream has its source in Chaumes-en-Retz, crosses St-Hilaire-de-Chaléons and Rouans to flow into Le Tenu near the village of Buzon

Funny name: in the 18th century, the name of this stream is called on the maps "the rui which goes to the Béranger bridge". The Napoleonic cadastre of 1836 subsequently mentions the name "La Blanche". Several more or less plausible explanations can explain this name. La Blanche indeed takes its source towards Chaumes, a limestone territory and white chalk was rejected in the brook. However, a local interpretation implies that this name was given to it because of the presence of a white mist on the marshes.
