 As part of European Heritage Days in Pays de Retz, the La Pointe Saint-Gildas Semaphore is opening its doors to the public!
The Pointe Saint-Gildas Semaphore invites you to discover it during a cultural weekend in September in Préfailles.

  On the programme
You can explore the Semaphore on your own or take a guided tour. The tours are specially organised to teach you more about this cultural site. The main themes covered are the history of the lives of lighthouse keepers and semaphore watchmen, as well as developments in maritime communication techniques.
This is your chance to learn all about this iconic cultural site in Destination Pornic and feast your eyes on the breathtakingly varied landscape!

  1.   To learn what a semaphore is.
  2. To find out what it was used for in the past and what it is used for today.
  3. To enjoy the exceptional view from Pointe Saint-Gildas.


  Good to know
  • Two tours/lectures on Saturday 20th and two tours/lectures on Sunday 21st September at 11am and 2.30pm.
  • Accessible to people with reduced mobility
