Presentation

Located below the Basse-Loire maritime canal, known as "de la Martinière", the Vue marsh is a natural space of approximately 450 hectares.

Come stroll there and discover its fauna and flora! Keep your eyes peeled, you might see storks!
Formerly called "Buzay meadows", this more or less humid marsh area is subject to flooding. It extends towards the Acheneau marsh located in the communes of Rouans and Cheix-en-Retz.

Even today, many fresh water arms, called "moats" or small "canals", allow irrigation by a system of opening or closing of valves, here and there, depending on the demand of farmers and seasons.

Here are 5 good reasons to come and discover this natural space, classified Natura 2000:
- Land of meadows and source of life, the marsh is a flat relief area, ideal for walking or cycling,
- Crop and grazing area, the marsh is a nesting box for birds; in each season many species are observed there; gray herons, dunlins, marsh harriers, lapwings, mute swans, falcons, herring and brown gulls, black-headed gulls, coots, northern shovelers, white storks, and other migratory birds,
- Immerse yourself in this plant labyrinth and come and observe the diversity of its habitat where other terrestrial and aquatic species live: frogs and other amphibians, reptiles, insects, cows, many species of fish such as eels for example ,
- For photo enthusiasts; come and enjoy taking photos of landscapes that change colors and atmosphere depending on the seasons,
- The marsh is thus a real green (and blue) lung for our countryside, where calm and tranquility reign!

To get to Vue Marsh:
- free parking is available next to the Sainte-Anne fountain, at the cemetery level,
- the marsh is visible starting from the town and going towards the north-east,
- travel on foot or by bike; the rue du "moulin du bourg", the rue "des chapels", the rue des "gannes", up to the levee de Buzay, you will find here and there perches with storks' nests.
