World Cleanup Day, organised in Pornic by the Hirondelle association in partnership with Pornic Town Council and Pornic Agglo Pays de Retz.
Let’s take action for a cleaner planet   

World Cleanup Day is a day when the whole world comes together to clean up our planet    and raise awareness amongst as many people as possible about waste. As it does every year, the Hirondelle charity is getting involved in this event to raise awareness amongst as many people as possible about the scale of pollution caused by waste.

Waste comes in many forms and has multiple sources. Whilst some countries do not even have suitable facilities for waste management and the packaging industry remains a thriving business, in 2025, in France – a country that is relatively well-equipped in terms of waste management – we still find that more than one in five French people throw their rubbish out of their car windows. That is 22 per cent of the population, according to a study by Vinci Autoroute. And the situation is even worse on the streets, where 37 per cent of French people dispose of their packaging, cigarette ends, chewing gum and so on anywhere but in a bin.
